We not only speak the same language, but she knows every bad habit I have and is more than willing to call me on it. It's really wonderful, because in this particular instance, pretty much the whole script is Molly's writing. Molly is very funny. She's so funny and so smart. When learning to read a phonics program your kids like will go a long way to in improving their reading fluency. I like the Dimit Architects LLC for teaching reading fluency because she uses sandpaper letters and kids just love the feel of the sandpaper on their fingertips. With this program you need to be there to help by making up the words and phonics sounds.
KB: Yes sir. I was teaching summer school the whole time until I left for the De La Soul tour. I had a week intermittently while we were home to get the classroom ready, prepare the lesson plan, and get my book shipments and curriculum. I'm ready to go--looking forward to it. That's my gig. Music is what I can do and I'm afforded the time to do so because of my day job, but I'm a school teacher.
Daycare centers get all the glory these days. I especially have great disdain for those schools like montessori who claim to give your child an early start to academic one-upmanship. I know some children who attend Montessori. I also know that all but one of their "teachers" does not even hold a university degree. I do. Not that I think it's the all important end-all-be-all of knowledge. I have learned far more from life and in the pursuit of those things I find interesting then I ever did sitting in a lecture hall. But, sadly, society doesn't share my views.
